Paint Correction

Paint Correction

Paint correction is the art and science of machine polishing to remove imperfections in your vehicle's clear coat. Swirl marks from automated car washes, light scratches, water spots, and oxidation — we remove them all to reveal the deep, glossy finish underneath.

What's Included

Every time your car goes through a brush car wash, gets wiped with a dry towel, or sits in the sun for years, your clear coat accumulates micro-scratches and imperfections that dull the finish. These aren't visible individually, but together they scatter light and make your paint look flat and lifeless.

Paint correction uses machine polishers with precisely calibrated compounds and pads to shave off a microscopic layer of clear coat — just enough to level out the scratches without compromising the finish. The result is paint that looks deeper, glossier, and more vibrant than the day the car was manufactured.

We offer single-stage correction (removes 70–80% of imperfections — ideal for most vehicles) and multi-stage correction (removes 90–95% — for show cars and enthusiasts). We measure paint thickness before starting to ensure there's sufficient clear coat to work with safely.

Our Process

1

Wash & Decontaminate

Thorough wash, iron remover, and clay bar to create a clean surface free of bonded contaminants.

2

Paint Measurement

Paint depth gauge readings on every panel to confirm adequate clear coat thickness for safe correction.

3

Machine Polishing

Dual-action or rotary polisher with compound and polish to remove swirl marks, scratches, and oxidation.

4

Refinement

Finishing polish to maximize gloss and remove any haze from the cutting stage.

5

Protection

Sealant or ceramic coating recommended to lock in the corrected finish and prevent future damage.

Benefits

  • Eliminates light scratches and water spots
  • Restores original paint depth, gloss, and color vibrancy
  • Paint thickness measured for safety before starting

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between polishing and paint correction?

Polishing typically refers to a light, single-step process. Paint correction is more thorough — it may involve multiple stages of cutting, polishing, and refining to remove deeper defects. We assess your paint and recommend the appropriate level.

Will paint correction damage my clear coat?

Not when done professionally. We measure paint thickness before starting and use the least aggressive approach needed to achieve results. Modern paint correction removes less than 1 micron of clear coat, which has no measurable impact on longevity.

How long do the results last?

The correction itself is permanent — the scratches are physically removed. However, new scratches will accumulate over time from washing and daily use. We strongly recommend ceramic coating after correction to protect the results for 1–2 years.

Can you do paint correction on my driveway?

Yes — we bring professional lighting, power, and all equipment. We need a covered or shaded area and a power outlet within 50 feet. Garages are ideal but not required.

How long does paint correction take?

Single-stage correction takes 4–6 hours for a sedan, 6–8 for an SUV. Multi-stage correction can take 8–12+ hours and may be split across two days for the best results.
